Handmade picture flowers in a pot - Mother's Day Crafts

Image
Every holiday we are always making fun keepsakes for meme, grandma and other special family members. Two years ago we made these special flower pots and placed baby pictures of the kids in them . The are very easy to make. For the flower part we used cupcake holders and for the stem we used popsicle sticks. Then to hold the special picture flowers in the flower pot we used styrofoam. This craft is fun and easy for all ages. You can get all the supplies from the Dollar Store and have enough supplies to make several. If you like to make handmade gifts for that special someone in your family or life be sure to check out the links below. Thanks for stopping by to see what fun stuff we are doing.

Simple Denim Aprons for Mother's Day Gifts!

Image
I decided that this is going to be a Denim week so I thought I would continue on with some more Jean Ideas. If you have some jeans that wont fit here is something fun to try! I was thinking this would be fun to make for my son's teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week that is coming up in May. I also think this would be a very cute gift for Mother's Day for my mom. She is always crafting with my daughter. It would be fun to make them matching ones to keep at her house. Here is the front and back view.  Isnt it cute? How to? You cut the behind part of the jeans off to use as the font of your apron, leaving the back two pockets intact to use for towels, utensils, etc. Then cut a 3-4 inch piece of fabric to the length you will need for your edges (Dont forget to leave 8-10 inches extra if you are ruffling it!) and hem one edge under.  My Grandma used a Zig-Zag stitch and I think it is really cute. Then sew fabric onto the edges in a ruffle or straight seam.  Mine is ruffled an...

Overnight Caramel French Toast | Easy & Fun Recipes

Image
This is a great recipe for breakfast or dessert. It's super easy to make. And it's very rich (and fattening) but oh, sooo yummy! Ingredients: French Baguette , better if it's one day old -- you may use French Bread but it is not as effective bcse it absorbs more of the egg mixture Egg Topping: 3 Eggs 1/2 C milk 1 tsp vanilla 1/4 tsp salt Caramel Sauce: 1 C brown sugar 6 Tbsp butter 1/3 C whipping or heavy cream 1 Tbsp corn syrup Directions: 1. Slice bread into 1-1/4" pieces. 2. On medium heat, heat all caramel sauce ingredients just until the butter melts. Do not boil. 3. Pour into 9x13" glass dish. 4. Combine all egg ingredients into a shallow dish. Dip bread slices and coat both sides. 5. Place in 9x13"dish. 6. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. 7. Bake in oven at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes

Easy DIY Washer Necklaces

Image
How to make custom necklaces using washers and printed paper. Easy and fun! I've seen these necklaces a couple of different places and I knew instantly I wanted to make a few. What's that? Oh you want to make one too? Well here's how: Supplies Washers - mine were 1.5 inches Scrapbook Paper Pencil or Punch the same size as your washers Scissors (not needed if you have the punch) Exacto Knife (not pictured) Mod Podge and Sponge Brush Sanding Block Liquid Glass/Glossy Accents (Clear liquid embellishment) Leather cording How to Trace and cut out circles the size of your washers. If you have a punch, consider yourself lucky. :) I cut out two circles for each necklace. Glue a circle onto one side of your washer. Use a semi-generous amount of Mod Podge, and make sure you get all the edges. (If you don't the clear glaze will pull up the edges as it dries.) Wipe off any extra around the sides. Let it "mostly" dry. Using the exact-o knife, cut out the center of the wash...

Best Gifts for Food Lovers

Image
So, you have a friend or relative who is a foodie but doesn’t want to be called a foodie. Their love of food goes above and beyond the average human’s love of food. They live to eat, rather than eat to live. And when you think of that person, you probably think of a specific food, rather than trait, that defines them — Pickles! Pizza! Hot sauce! Well, luckily for you, we found food gifts for every type of “don’t call me a foodie” foodie in your life — from the coffee snob to the reusable straw activist, and the knife collector to the cake stalker (you know, those people who only follow cake-icing accounts on Instagram). If you get it right, they’ll probably make you more meals — because, let’s be real, that’s what you’re really after, right? Here's the list: Zojirushi Stainless Steel Mug It is technically a mug — but don’t call it a “muggle,” because it will make you say, “What is this sorcery?” when you drink from it. Its “stainless steel vacuum insulation” will keep hot beverages...

I Love You Much Card and a Kid Canvas

Image
Mother's Day ideas continued... I decided to show you the things Harvey and I made to give to Justin. First up... I Love You This Much Card How to: It's super easy... 1. Trace your child's hand, then cut out two copies. My paper was double sided so I made sure that when the thumbs match up - the yellow side would be inside, and the blue side would be outside. 2. Cut out a strip of paper and fold it accordion style. Use letter rub-ons or stickers to add the words "I Love You" on the outside, and "This Much" on the strip of paper. 3. Glue the ends of your accordion strip on the insides of the hands and your card is done. :) Kid Canvas Then Harvey and I made a little canvas (4 inches x 4 inches) to hang on the wall in Justin's office at work. I purchased small ones so we could add to them each year and hang them in one grouping. I prepainted the canvas in green, then set Harvey in the bathtub with blue paint and a brush and let him paint his own "p...

Sheath Wedding Dresses

Image
Looking for a sophisticated, contemporary take on the modern wedding dress? Consider the sheath wedding dress. With its simple lines and polished silhouette, a sheath dress is the perfect dress for the bride who desires a sleek, sexy look. The elegance of this simple dress demands the attention of anyone in the room. Whether a bride has a lean athletic figure or a striking mature hourglass shape a simple sheath wedding dress is a tasteful dress for anyone. Always elegant, this column wedding dress can be sexy, beach-y, classic, simple, or bohemian. Simple wedding dresses like the sheath wedding gown pair well with a touch of vintage bridal jewelry, such as a locket necklace or pearl earrings, and finished off with a long, exaggerated cathedral veil that falls to the floor. This wedding gown embodies modern elegance of our time; where the past is revisited, reinterpreted and emerges as a new classic. My friendly advice, before you decide you are going to be a sheath dress bride, is that...
